Volunteer Position/Role:  Treasurer

The Treasurer is a crucial volunteer position within Cape Ann Rowing Club, responsible for overseeing the organization's financial management and ensuring its continued success. Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight:  Manage CARC's financial affairs, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.

  • Banking and Transactions:  Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, process payments, and manage financial transactions related to production of the annual Blackburn Challenge and other club activities.

  • Budgeting and Planning:  Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts to support the successful execution of the Blackburn Challenge and other club initiatives.

  • Compliance:  Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax requirements, and reporting obligations applicable to non-profit organizations.

  • Financial Policies:  Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to safeguard assets and promote sound financial management practices within the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for supporting the mission and activities of Cape Ann Rowing Club, particularly the production of the annual Blackburn Challenge.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a small volunteer-driven organization.

  • Familiarity with tools for budgeting, accounting, and reporting.  

  • Experience in financial management, accounting, or related fields, preferably within a non-profit or event management context.

Time Commitment:

The CARC Treasurer role typically requires a commitment of approximately four hours per month including attendance at board meetings and financial planning sessions, as well as ongoing financial management tasks.
